The cattle business today is more complicated than it has ever been. We have packers telling us one thing, industry experts another, purebred breeders still another and finally the commercial man something else. And when it all boils down, we can all go back to what our grandfathers and great grandfathers knew years and years ago. Moderate framed, easy keeping, well muscled, good milking, calm dispositioned cattle are the most profitable to raise and the most palatable to put on the table. Here at S&J Cattle Co., we put much more emphasis on what a cow can do rather than what a calf does. In a good year, anyone can grow big calves. In a tough year, a producer with the right kind and type of cows still will wean a good calf AND his cows will seem to be unaffected by the harsh conditions that she has been through.
